Cute Wedding Cardigans!
In a post I wrote a while back, Fashionable Fellas, I shared a few photos of groomsmen wearing cardigans (which I love!). So, today I’d like to share some inspiration with brides and bridesmaids in colorful cardigans. It’s a wonderful way to incorporate your wedding colors in the bridal party’s attire.
Something blue? I love Keira Knightley in this pale blue dress and cardigan. It would be perfect for a wedding!
What do you think? Will you or your ladies be donning cardigans on your wedding day?

Wedding Canopies & Arches
There is something incredibly romantic about getting married under a wedding canopy. Don’t you agree? A canopy or arch can also serve as a great focal point for your wedding ceremony. Plus, they work equally well for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies. And…of course, a beautifully decorated canopy or arch would look fabulous in your wedding photos! Depending on how elaborate your canopy or arch is, you could possibly have it transported to the reception site after the ceremony and utilize it to make your grand entrance as husband and wife! Canopies and arches can be designed according to your specific wedding location, colors, flowers, theme, season..or even to an activity that you both enjoy.
Here are just a few wedding canopy and arch ideas…to get those creative juices flowing!

Rustic California Wedding from Kim Maguire Photography
Amanda and Taylor’s California wedding was sent to us by the wonderful Kim Maguire Photography. Was is possible for us to avoid falling head over heels for this beautifully rustic and intimate wedding celebration? We think not. The gorgeous setting and little bits of DIY goodness flowing throughout this event had us hooked from the start! Take a peek at the beautiful photos and hear a little about the wedding from the bride below …
Amanda: “I did quite a lot of online research for perfect, off the beaten path and unique places to get married. I came across Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse and fell in love with the pictures. I could see us there among all the beauty in a very natural outdoor wedding. The minute we drove up the long road towards the house I got that “this is perfect..I can see my wedding day” feeling. It was the most beautiful old farmhouse setting out on a huge plot of private land overlooking the Los Olivos country side. We are both very laid back people and we thought this spot would really give us a wonderful “under the stars” farmhouse chic wedding! The accommodations at the farmhouse are large enough that we could have our whole wedding party stay there with us and make a weekend out of it. It felt like home and the best place for us to spend quality time with our closest friends, be in a gorgeous setting and begin our new life together! To be honest..we still dream about living at the farmhouse and reminisce about our wedding weekend there all the time.
Side Note: we were married by our best friend (who became a Deputy for the Day thru the state of California). He is the reason we met, it was his apartment that we both stayed in and met in LA. It kind of brought things full circle for him to marry us and bless our union. He also had a lifelong dream of marrying friends..glad we could make it come true!
”
Congratulations Amanda & Taylor! Thanks for sharing with us Kim!!

2011 Winter Wedding Hair Trend…
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE watching the awards shows each season. Well, that’s not exactly true – what really catches my interest is the Red Carpet! I get all comfy on the couch with a sketch pad and pencil at the ready to capture the hair and makeup “Look” of the season. Well, I have to say, the 2011 CMA Awards did not disappoint and one theme seemed to resonate louder than the rest as my hand sketched. Over and over the gorgeous ladies of Country wore long, flowing, luscious locks that cascaded past their shoulders oozing femininity.
This trend is hitting at just the right time for Winter Brides. With the weather in-check anyone can get away with a down do. So what’s the trick to getting long lasting waves for your Big Day? Follow the DIY steps below and rejoice in the season - ‘let it flow‘…
1. Wash and dry your hair using Paul Mitchel Sculpting Foam and a round brush
2. Heat up hot rollers while you section your hair into four sections: 2 side, 1 top, 1 back
3. Beginning at the bottom of the back section, wrap hair with medium rollers (small if there are only 2 sizes)
4. Next, starting at the front of the top section (by forehead) wrap hair towards the back of head in large rollers – this will look like a mohawk
5. Then proceed and wrap each side with large rollers so that the rollers face down towards the shoulder.
After 2 hours gently ‘drop’ the rollers working from the bottom to the top, spray a mist of Sebastian Shaper Plus on each row.
Flip your head upside down and shake, shake, shake. Flip forward and tweak in the mirror. If the curls are too structured flip over again and gently pull your fingers from scalp to ends, flip forward, tweak again and spray with Sebastian Fierce. Voila! No teasing needed. Pin in your veil and go get married!!

Floral Wedding Cake Inspiration!
When it comes to wedding cakes, I’m a big fan of a very simple tiered cake with floral detailing. Whether the cake is all white or filled with pops of color, this style wedding cake is just beautiful. Below are some of my favorites …
Milwaukee Wedding from Ann Oleinik Photography
We always enjoy receiving real wedding submissions that have some elements that are out of the ordinary. We were recently sent Mary and Tim’s wedding by Ann Oleinik Photography and found it delightful! This wedding certainly has unique qualities. Mary and Tim were married in a beautiful ceremony that contained quite a surprise for the bride and groom (you’ll see what we’re gettin’ at)!
Mary and Tim were surprised with a play during the ceremony. Mary’s two kids were a big part of their wedding day, and their friends and families all conspired to write and create a play that the guests and wedding party acted out during their ceremony… cow costumes and all!
Ann: “The play was really cute. It was written like a fairy tale, where a handsome young man wanted to marry the princess, and the princess’s father demanded an impossibly large dowry of many many cows in exchange for his daughter. So the young man, very much in love, managed to assemble all of the cows that the king asked for and set out to give them to the king so he could marry the princess. So all of the kids at the wedding, and the guests, got to play the parts of the cows. As the young man went on his journey to the king, he kept meeting people in desperate need of help – and of cows. Being a nice, generous, man, whenever somebody in need would ask for help, he would give up a few more of his cows, even if that meant risking the hand of his beloved. By the time he reached the king, he hardly had any cows left because he had given them all away. But of course, in the end, his generous spirit won the heart of the king and his princess, and they lived happily ever after.”
Congratulations Mary & Tim!
