The United States online passport renewals are simple most of the time. Most can be done by mail but you will not be required to appear in person. There are, however, some conditions that must be fulfilled if done by mail.

Conditions

There are a few conditions to be met if you want to mail your request. You must be able to submit your current passport with your application and it must be undamaged. It is also required that you obtained it within the past fifteen years, and you were at least sixteen years old at the time. If you have had a name change, submit the proof with your application.

Expedited Service

If you need your visa in less than four weeks or are leaving on your trip in less that fourteen days, you will have to make a personal application and pay a higher charge to get it. Name Change

For a name change due to a court order or marriage, you must officially change it on your document. To do this, you will need a copy of the court order or marriage license, whichever applies. You will need your original passport, a certified copy or original of the name change documentation, the appropriate form and a color picture. There is no charge for this service. Errors

Errors that appear can be corrected whenever needed, using the appropriate forms. They do not have any charges associated with them. Things like typographical errors and errors with the date of birth are some examples. You simply need to include the proper form to get them corrected.

Mailing

Any time you need to make corrections, additions or renew, you need to send the correct forms and documentation. They need to be in perfect condition. Mailing them unfolded in a large envelope, preferably reinforced for protection, insures they will we undamaged. This is important to prevent delays.
